One of the criteria for dyslexic child that i have observed is they hate books...they don't..but as if they are...actually they are scared of books...simply because they cant read the content of the books..to normal children, books are knowledge and stories but to dyslexic child books are nightmare...Imran used to ran away from the book stall when i asked him to choose any story books or workbooks...since then i never asked him to buy books again...i believe one day he will voluntarily requested to buy books...and that incident was like a few years back...
That one day came unexpectedly...we were rushing to the car after buying something at Mercato (Hartamas Shopping Centre)...past by the promotion area...MPH was having sales promotion..suddenly he stopped...he showed me that book...Garfield Fat Cat Rhyme Time....hehehe....i was shocked and happy...so happy that the "one day" finally here...i asked him are u sure you want this book? he said "Yes...but i don't have ringgit (money)"..i said if you really want this book, i'll buy for you...but promise me you will read it..i'll help you...and he said ok...i shared my happiness with my husband and his tuition teacher...the same reaction - shocked, happy and grateful...
Moral of the story...be patient...your dyslexic son will buy a book at his own will one day...only time will tell...insyaAllah..have faith that once they break the ice, books will become their best friends...
