Today is the 13th day of Ramadhan in year of 2011...i just came back from an iftar session at my elder sister's house...and have a chat with my sister in law. She suspected her third child which is same age like Imran (10 years old) is also experiencing dyslexic. Among the criteria that she mentioned were:
1) having difficulty in understanding the mathematics concepts
2) having difficulty to understand multiple instructions
3) seems like dreaming
4) twisted handwriting
Based on the criteria given, I am 50% sure that he is dyslexic but with different case from Imran. Unlike Imran, he can speak fluently, mingle comfortably with other kids and can express himself easily and seems outgoing. Imran on the other hand is having difficulty to retrieve information from his brain via verbal and introvert in behaviour. However as mentioned in various studies, there are several level of dyslexic thus one dyslexic kid is different from another.
I urged my sister in law to bring him to see child psychologist and make an assessment to validate whether he is dyslexic or not. Only then his problem can be solved as proper method of education can be given to him.
To other parents out there, never hesitate to get help or assess your child if they have difficulty in learning or do not meet the normal standard of education. A task may look simple to you but it may not be simple at all to a child with dyslexic mind.
